Dear relatives, friends, and fellow citizens:

I saw "Fahrenheit 9/11" yesterday. It received the first prize (Palme
d'Or). Moore (director, writer, and star) received the longest continuous
standing ovation in the history of the Cannes Film Festival(25 minutes).
Some of the most compelling scenes showing Bush looking presidential
were as follows:
     	   a. While waiting nearly seven minutes to leave a Florida grade
school after learning America is under attack on 9/11,
         b. While urging the world's nations to fight terrorism moments
before teeing off on the golf course;
         c. While addressing a banquet of business fat cats, Bush said "Some
call you the elites - I call you my base."
Regardless of your political allegiance; this film, will inspire you to
get involved in the process. Whatever your point of view, the film should be
a clarion call for participatory democracy. As the political campaign moves
forward ...the election propaganda becomes more obvious. We must all become
skeptical of the "news" and "talking heads" which seeks to form our
opinions. Before we vote this year, let's put our patriotic fervor into
action and seek out truth.
In Director Moore's hands, the news footage not only shows a revealing
portrait of US War policy, but also a scathing critique of the media. Moore
had the guts to go up against both parties and expose the rampant hypocrisy
in today's government....something the mass media had failed to do. For
example: Moore drives an ice cream truck around the US Capital, reading the
Patriot Act through a loudspeaker (after learning that few of the lawmakers
who voted for it had actually read it). Moore also stands outside the
Capitol with a Marine trying to persuade members of Congress to enlist their
children in the Armed Forces (after learning that only one member of our
Congress has a son in "harms way"!)
I ask that you see this acclaimed documentary. It may energize you into
patriotic action. Or should we citizens, perhaps, just continue to leave
governmental affairs to the President, Congress and the Military (all of
which have largely become mercenary).
With respect to the important issues facing our Nation, how many letters
have you written your congressmen and senators inquiring into the use of
power,treasury,and blood in questionable causes?

          Sincerely concerned,
                              mrf
                              CDR,USN,ret.
