Folks of Judges Hill,
In response to a second proposal from developer Bill Hale with 47 condos for 19th & West, JHNA held a meeting on Sept. 11 to consider its merits. The meeting was long and unable to retain a quorum for any formal votes, so the few remaining decided to ask our members to approve a negotiation process with Mr. Hale. After the negotiation phase, provided a good concept was reached, the Officers would present the results to the members for formal approval. Since the internet was used as a method of seeking this authority, not all the members were reached nor do our bylaws permit this type of voting.
At this point, the vote on Aug. 28 regarding Mr. Hale's first 68 condo proposal, that produced an 11 to 0 tally to reject that plan and retain MF4 zoning, is the official position of JHNA.
A ad hoc committee chaired by Gayle Browne has been created to bring the members a set of criteria for what we would like any building(s) at 19th and West to look like, regardless of who the developer may be. This group will use input from our members, City staff, architects and potential developers. Our other committees will also review this issue from their responsibilities.
In order to give us a opportunity to make further progress towards resolving this issue I am calling a meeting for next Tuesday Sept. 30, 7pm to be held at my house. Materials are being posted on our web site WWW.JUDGESHILL.ORG or delivered to all our official members for this important meeting. Members who have not been able to attend other times are encouraged to attend.
Thank you for your time and energy to be engaged in this and all the critical issues of our historic community.
Sincerely,
Bill Monroe
